Problem Note 63475: A SAS® Viya® deployment fails with "The RabbitMQ service...could not be started..." during a RabbitMQ setup task
On machines where the hostname -i command returns both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, a SAS Viya installation might fail during the RabbitMQ Execute Invoke cluster setup task. In this scenario, the deployment.log contains an error similar to the following:
TASK [rabbitmq-x64_redhat_linux_6-yum : Execute Invoke cluster setup]
...more lines...
Starting sas-viya-rabbitmq-server-default
The RabbitMQ service sas-viya-rabbitmq-server-default could not be started.
Returned status was 1
Setup failed. Beware of independent Rabbit hosts running with different shared secrets.
There are other possible causes for this failure. When the hostname -i output contains both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, you are most likely encountering this specific problem.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note for a link to instructions about accessing and applying the software update.
In order to get the RPM package that contains the hot fix so that it is applied during subsequent SAS Viya installations, update your mirror repository if either of the following conditions apply to you:
- You created your mirror repository before this hot fix was available (January 2019) and have not deployed with it yet.
- You plan to use the mirror repository that you created before this hot fix was available in future deployments.
See the "Synchronize the Mirror Repository" section inSAS® Viya® 3.4 for Linux: Deployment Guide for more information.
