This type of error is rare, and it occurs only in Excel. The error can occur due to a timing issue as Excel is invoked and SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office loads.

The following steps for including a configuration option should correct this issue.

1. Close all Microsoft Office applications on the client machine.
2. Locate and back up a copy of the SAS.OfficeAddin.dll.config file from the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office installation directory.
3. Edit the SAS.OfficeAddin.dll.config file to include the <add key="EnableCommandBarsUpdateEvent" value="false"/> configuration option. Here is an example:

     <assemblySettings>
        <add key="EnableCommandBarsUpdateEvent" value="false"/>
     </assemblySettings>
  </configuration>

       4. Save the file.
