Usage Note 63383: How to administer sharing and ownership of SAS® Forecast Studio for Desktop (stand-alone) projects manually via project files on the file system
This SAS note documents steps for manually modifying sharing and ownership of SAS Forecast Studio for Desktop projects. The manual modification uses project files on the file-system. You can use this manual method as an alternative to using the SAS Forecast Project Manager for Desktop user interface. The user interface requires that you have administrative Forecast Studio for Desktop capabilities.
Following these steps should allow other users of the environment to access the project from their SAS Forecast Studio for Desktop application.
1. On the file system, navigate to the environment folder\Registry\Projects folder. environment folder is the location of the SAS Forecast Studio for Desktop environment where the project is saved.
2. Use a text editor to open the registry file that is associated with the project. This registry file has the same name as the project name.
3. Change the sharing flag in the file from false to true, and save the file.
Following these steps should change the ownership of the project to the user ID that you specify in the registry file and Project.xml files.
1. Use a text editor to open the registry file that is associated with the project from the environment folder\Registry\Projects folder. (See steps 1 and 2 from the section above for details.)
2. Edit the user_own and user_create flags in the file. Point to the user ID that you want to own the project. By default, these flags point to the user ID of the original owner of the project. Save the file after making the change.
3. Navigate to the environment folder\Projects\project name folder. Open the Project.xml file in a text editor.
4. Edit the Project.xml file to change the createdByUserID and owningUserID values. Specify the user ID of that you want to own the project. By default, these flags point to the user ID of the original owner of the project. Save the file after making the change.
The user ID should now be able to access the project from their SAS Forecast Studio for Desktop application.
