Problem Note 63311: A check box in custom details for a communication does not show a value when a campaign is first executed in SAS® Customer Intelligence Studio
When you use a check box in the custom details for a communication, the field for the check box does not display a value when you first execute the campaign in SAS Customer Intelligence Studio. This problem happens when you perform steps similar to the following:
- In a communication definition, add a custom detail that contains a check box. Do not select the check box (that is, leave it empty).
- Create a campaign that uses the communication definition.
- Add an export definition to the campaign and add the check box as an output field that is to be exported.
- Execute the campaign.
- Click Preview Export. When you do this, the Boolean column contains only empty values rather than the value false, as expected.
- Select the check box on the Custom Details page of the communication and re-execute the campaign. Now, the preview export correctly displays a value of true.
- Clear the selection for the check box on the Custom Details page of the communication. Then, execute the campaign. Now the preview export correctly shows a value of false.
The exported file also does not contain any values when the campaign is executed for the first time.
As a workaround, select the check box when you define the custom detail. By doing this, the field maintains a value of true when you execute the campaign for the first time. If you then clear the selection, the proper value (false) is displayed.
