Problem Note 63230: "ERROR: The file has too long a member name..." occurs when you try to read an Oracle table name with more than 30 bytes

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you try to read an Oracle table name with more than 30 bytes using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Oracle, an error similar to the following occurs in the log:

libname ora oracle user pw=XXXXXX path=path;
data new;
set ora.'NCFAST_DW_NFDENORMALIZEDDECISION'n;
ERROR: The file ORA.NCFAST_DW_NFDENORMALIZEDDECISION.DATA has too long a member
name for the ORA library.
run;

Trying to open this table from the SAS Explorer window or trying to register this table in the SAS metadata causes the same error.

To work around this issue, you can create an Oracle view name that is 30 characters or less and access the view from SAS.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
