When you search for all entities of a type (and you use * in the Search box to show all entities of that type), you get the results and a count (the number of results returned). Before this search, you run an indexing job that tells you the number of entities by type that have been indexed. In some cases, the number from the search count and the number from the indexing count do not match.
For example, a count of 99 records is returned from your search, although the indexing job shows that 100 were indexed. One indexed record does not show in your search. This issue can occur after you delete records, and the deleted records are not recorded in a delete table. Having a delete table allows incremental indexing jobs to know what has been deleted and no longer needs indexing.
