Problem Note 63327: The XLSX engine does not read certain characters in data exported using the SAS® Enterprise Guide® export wizard
When you use the IMPORT procedure with the XLSX engine, certain UTF-8 characters are not read in from a Microsoft Excel file. This issue occurs when the Excel file is generated by an export from SAS Enterprise Guide via the SAS Enterprise Guide wizard.
You encounter the problem because the XLSX engine does not interpret values such as _x0000_, _x0020_, and so on correctly. This behavior occurs because the shared strings with embedded encoded Unicode are not converted into UTF-8 encoding.
