Problem Note 62650: Character-based dynamic arrays are converted to SAS® arrays when the /NOSYMBOLS option is used with PROC COMPILE
When you use character-based dynamic arrays with PROC COMPILE and the /NOSYMBOLS option, they are converted to SAS arrays. The conversion to SAS arrays then slows processing, and performance is affected. No errors are displayed.
