Problem Note 62466: SAS® Studio might spawn extraneous workspace server processes

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If a workspace server process generated by SAS Studio Basic or SAS Studio Enterprise is killed with an operating system job or Windows task manager before the SAS Studio time-out interval, SAS Studio might spawn new extraneous workspace server processes when the time-out interval is met.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

Note: If you used a hot fix method (referenced in SAS Note 57898) to enhance your SAS® Studio 3.4 or SAS® Studio 3.5 to have SAS® Studio 3.6 functionality, a fix is not available for this issue.

If you are not sure whether this is the case, check your installed release version. Your installed release version is the 3.x number in one of the following directory paths:

SASHOME/SASStudioMidTier/3.x

or

SASHOME/SASStudioBasic/3.x

Also, if the following error message is generated when you apply the SAS Studio 3.6 hot fix, you might have already used the hot fix method to enhance your SAS Studio 3.4 or SAS Studio 3.5 to have SAS Studio 3.6 functionality. Check your installed release version as noted above:

The hot fixes in the selected directory are not applicable for the installed products.

For SAS® Studio 4.3 (SAS® Viya®) in Linux operating environments only:

Update Your Software to Fix This Issue

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note for a link to instructions about accessing and applying the software update.

Verify That the Update Has Been Installed

To verify that the fix is installed, run the following rpm command:

rpm -q sas-sasstudio

To complete this process, make sure that the package versions shown in the rpm output either match the following or have a newer date than what is shown here. In the following, 20180628 is the date portion, where 2018 is the year, 06 is the month, and 28 is the day:

sas-sasstudio-4.3.1-20180628.121938969496.x86_64
