Problem

During an upgrade to SAS^® 9.4M5 (TS1M5), SAS Deployment Manager might return a configuration error in the SAS Web Application Server Configuration step of the first stage (the Apply Update stage). 

When this problem occurs, you receive the following configuration-failure message:

If you experience this issue, you also will see the following error in the vfabrictcsvr_updateConfigure_date.log file:

Note: If you encounter the error described earlier in this note and you do not see this specific error message in the vfabrictcsvr_updateConfigure_date.log file, you should not follow the workaround below because you likely have a different issue. In such a case, contact SAS Technical Support for assistance. 

Problem Resolution

You can address this issue with the following workaround:

1. In a text editor, open the appserver.properties file that resides in the directory SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Web/Scripts/AppServer/props/.
2. Look for either of the two lines below in the appserver.properties file. If you see either of these lines, delete them from the file:

   application.x.resourceManager=com.sas.appserver.utils.ResourceManagerImpl@41fb404​​​​​​​

   datasource.1.resourceManager=com.sas.appserver.utils.ResourceManagerImpl@20b3461

3. Save changes to that file.
4. Return to the Configuration Failure page in SAS Deployment Manager and click Retry. The SAS Web Application Server Configuration step should complete successfully after that.
