Problem Note 62958: Microsoft Windows 10 updates and Microsoft Office updates might interfere with the dialog boxes in SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office
Some updates for Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016 updates might interfere with dialog boxes in SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office. For example, the Open Data Source dialog box might not show the list of expected locations in the left pane of the window, as shown in the following display:
Other dialog boxes might also have missing information. For example, a stored process date prompt might not display the calendar. The Modify Data Source dialog box might not display the list of variables.
Microsoft recommends upgrading Microsoft Office 2016 to a release greater than build 9330.1000, and upgrading Microsoft Windows to build 1803 (RS4) and later, or selecting the Optimize for compatibility option in Excel. To select this option in Excel, navigate to File ► Options ► General as shown in the following display:
Starting in 8.2, the SAS add-in checks to see if this setting is defined. If it is not defined, you are prompted with the following message, which suggests that you change this option. If you select to change the option, the SAS add-in makes the change, but you must restart Office in order for the change to take effect.
