Problem Note 62865: The Open Source Code node gives "SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xe8' in file" when using Python
When you run an Open Source Code node in SAS® Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning, the node might fail. The following error is displayed in the node log.
PROCESS OUTPUT >>> SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xe8' in file
The error occurs when the following conditions are met:
- You access Model Studio by using a browser in a language that is not encoded in ASCII. Examples: Japanese or Chinese.
- Your pipeline includes an Open Source Code node with the Language set to Python.
- You are using Python 2.
To work around the problem, upgrade to Python 3.
