Problem Note 62652: Web application server errors similar to "The required Server component failed to start so Tomcat is unable to start" occur on UNIX systems
The SAS middle tier web application servers do not start when errors similar to the following occur:
FATAL (main) [org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina] The required Server component failed to start so Tomcat is unable to start.
org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Failed to start component [StandardServer[-1]]
These errors are typically caused by an ungraceful shutdown, such as a power loss to the machine or an unintentional forced restart.
To circumvent the issue, delete the following folders within the /config/Lev1/Web/WebAppServer/SASServerX_Y directory:
Then, create a logs folder and a catalina.out file within the logs folder. The other folders are created automatically upon start-up.
