Overview

SAS Visual Analytics reports that are embedded on a website using the SDK, might display the following generic error:

When this problem occurs, the report-execution log might contain one of the following errors:

About the Cause

This combination of an unexpected error and a java.lang.ClassCastException error can occur after you edit a control that has the Initially select first item option selected. Specifically, you do one of the following:

• Switch a measure that was converted to a category with a category that was not converted from a measure.
• Switch a date with a category.

Resolution for This Issue

As a workaround, follow these steps:

1. Open the report in edit mode in SAS Visual Analytics.
2. Select the control and deselect the Initially select first item option.
3. Select a value in the control.
4. Clear the value in the control.
5. Select the Initially select first item option again.
6. Save the report.
