In SAS Customer Intelligence Studio, you might see the following pop-up message when selecting a numeric data item:

This problem happens when you perform steps similar to the following:

1. Add a Select node to a diagram.
2. Select a numeric data item such as Offer ID, and then click the select value sign.
3. In the second window (Select Values), click the select variable sign again and select another numeric item such as Offer Status. It does not matter if you select a numeric data item or a numeric calculated item.
4. Click OK twice to add this numeric value.
5. Close and re-open the Select node. The following pop-up message is displayed:
   Value must be a number

Note: This issue happens with numeric values only. Character values work as expected.
