SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office might continuously prompt for a TLS certificate. This issue occurs when you connect to the fifth maintenance release of the SAS^® 9.4 (TS1M5) server and your SAS middle tier is configured for TLS.

This problem occurs because of a change in the SAS 9.4 TS1M5 middle tier. Starting with SAS 9.4 TS1M5, the SAS middle tier that is configured for SSL/TLS requires clients to connect using TLS 1.2. While earlier releases of the middle tier allowed connections using TLS 1.0, SAS 9.4 TS1M5 rejects that connection. The client interprets the rejection to mean that client certificates are needed, and the prompting occurs as a result of that.
