Installation Note 61981: SAS® Deployment Wizard might fail and encounter errors during an installation, and MSI error code 1619 is also displayed in the IT log
When you install SAS® 9.4 on a Microsoft Windows operating system, the deployment might fail on a product that uses the Microsoft Installer (MSI). An error that is similar to the following appears:

To begin diagnosing the issue, navigate to the IT_date-time-stamp.log file that is referenced in the error message. Look for content that is similar to the following:
2018-03-29 10:10:09 InstallMSIPackageTask - Return code from msiexec: 1619
2018-03-29 10:10:09 Controller - An error occurred during processing:
2018-03-29 10:10:09 Controller - There is a problem that seems to be related to the system running
the install: The following error code, 1,619, was returned while installing the MSI package with the command msiexec.exe
/i "C:\Users\sas\Desktop\test dble spaces\products\webinfdodbc__94140__prt__xx__sp0__1\psqlodbc_x64.msi" /qn /norestart
ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1 /LV*X "C:\Program Files\SASHome\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\install_webinfdodbc_9.43_wx6_xx_2018-03-29-10.10.09.log"
If you see similar content in your IT_date-time-stamp.log, make sure that there are not any consecutive character spaces within the folder name for SAS® Software Depot. In the log, note the extra spaces within the directory path that is mentioned. The example from the log follows here. Two blank character spaces occur between test and dble:
C:\Users\sas\Desktop\test dble spaces
If the folder name contains consecutive character spaces, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the folder that contains SAS Software Depot. Rename the folder to delete the extra character space from the folder name.
- Navigate to the location for the SAS Deployment Wizard logs. The default path is C:\Users\installer-user-id\AppData\Local\SAS\SASDeploymentWizard.
- Open the installRetry.properties file within a text editor. (If you are not using the setting to show your file extensions, the file name appears as installRetry.)
- Press Ctrl+F and search for "sas.startup.location," which references the last depot name that the wizard launched from.
- Edit that line to reflect the new folder name for the depot. Make sure that it matches the new folder name exactly and that there are no consecutive character spaces within the name.
- Click File and then click Save.
- Navigate to your SAS Software Depot.
- Right-click the setup.exe file for SAS Deployment Wizard and select Run as administrator.
- After SAS Deployment Wizard launches, and prompts you to select a language, you should see the Incomplete Deployment wizard page:

- Select Resume unfinished deployment.
- Click Next.
- Follow the prompts to begin the deployment.
- SAS Deployment Wizard should finish installing the rest of the products for your deployment.
