SAS Visual Analytics enables you to define calculated data items. You can also implement row-level security so that users see only data that they are permitted to see. However, if a SAS Visual Analytics report has a calculated data item and row-level security is applied to the data source, you might see the following errors:

If a SAS Visual Analytics report includes a calculated data item and row-level security is applied to the data source, some objects might display "The action was not successful." The error details include: "Use of RETAIN variable XXX not permitted in user-defined programs with row security."
