Problem Note 60077: Errors when trying to use CSSMTP with FILENAME EMAIL engine on z/OS
Note: For information about CSSMTP support, refer to SAS Note 45257: "The SAS® FILENAME EMAIL engine and support for CSSMTP in a z/OS operating environment."
Starting in z/OS release V2R3, if you are attempting to use CSSMTP with SAS® due to IBM dropping support for the SMTPD email server, you might encounter one of the following errors with SAS® 9.4 TS1M4 and earlier:
ERROR: Email: The connection was refused.
The above error occurs if there is no SMTP server listening on the host name specified for EMAILHOST= and on the port specified for EMAILPORT=.
ERROR: Email host xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com not found.
The above error indicates that the host name specified for the SAS option EMAILHOST= could not be resolved to an IP address. This error can occur if the host name is not found in the Domain Name Server (type A, AAAA, or PTR records) or the host table.
The EMAILHOST SAS system option must point to an SMTP server (smart host). For a workaround, you can set this option to one of the CSSMTP configurations values (TargetIp or TargetName) used in TargetServer statements in the CSSMTP.conf file. See your email administrator for these values.
