Problem Note 60060: Characters are not transcoded correctly when exporting Wlatin2-encoded data to Microsoft Excel using the SAS® PC Files Server

When you export Wlatin2-encoded data to Excel using the SAS PC Files Server, characters are not transcoded correctly. No error messages are generated. The problem happens under the following conditions:
- You run a SAS Wlatin2 session under UNIX or Linux.
- You export SAS data using a SAS PC Files Server running in an environment configured for Wlatin2 encoding (Windows 1250).
The result is that the ą, ś, ź, Ą, Ś, and Ź characters are written as the ±, ¶, Ľ, ˇ, ¦, and ¬ characters respectively in the Excel file that is generated by the EXPORT procedure.
As a workaround, you can create a Wlatin2-encoded copy of the SAS data before exporting it, and use encoding=any to prevent SAS from performing any transcoding during the export. Here is an example:
