Problem Note 59223: The license expiration date in SAS® Environment Manager might be inaccurate
SAS licensing information can be found in two places in SAS Environment Manager—
- On the SAS® Application Server Tier screen
- And in the Environment Snapshot in SAS Environment Manager
Currently, when the licensing information is displayed in either of these locations, the information shown is for only one license in the SAS environment. Therefore, if you have multiple license files in the environment, the displayed license information could be inaccurate or unreliable.
Descriptions of the problem and possible workarounds are provided below.
Inaccurate License Expiration Information Displayed in the SAS Application Server Tier Screen
Shown below is an example of the section of the SAS® 9.4 Application Server Tier screen that might display inaccurate licensing information.

Note: The license information that is displayed is only the license expiration date. What is displayed does not take into consideration the grace or warning periods.
Inaccurate License Expiration Information Displayed in the Environment Snapshot
The Environment Snapshot returns the value for only one license in the environment. If your environment has multiple SAS SID files in metadata and multiple SAS® Foundation licenses, then the information in Environment Snapshot is not accurate.
Workarounds
If the license information in the SAS 9.4 Application Server Tier is inaccurate, you can verify your licensing information by doing the following:
- Verify the SAS Foundation licenses on all machines in your environment.
- Verify the SAS installation data files (SID files) that are stored in metadata.
To verify the SAS Foundation licenses on all machines in your environment, do the following on each machine in the deployment:
- Open SAS 9.4.
- Submit the following code in the editor window: proc setinit; run;
- Inspect the expiration dates in the SAS log window for each product.
To verify the SID files that are stored in metadata, see SAS Note 57183: "Viewing the SID files in metadata via code submission for SAS® 9.4 (TS1M1) and earlier or via SAS® Management Console for SAS® 9.4 (TS1M2) and later."
Beginning with SAS 9.4 (TS1M5), No Licensing Information Will Be Displayed
With SAS 9.4 (TS1M5), the licensing information feature in SAS Environment Manager has been deprecated.
