Problem Note 59865: Segmentation violations and exception errors occur when importing Microsoft Excel files created by Oracle
Segmentation violations and exception errors can occur when importing Excel XLSX files created by Oracle. The problem occurs because of large XML constructs inside the Excel files that Oracle creates.
As a workaround, do one of the following actions:
- If you are on a Windows machine and the Excel file has fewer than 255 columns, import the file using DBMS=EXCEL or EXCELCS. These drivers can read the XML construct.
- Save the file as a tab-delimited text file, and then import the tab-delimited text file using DBMS=TAB.
- Copy and paste the contents in a new Excel file, and then import the new Excel file.
