The Decision Tree node in SAS^® Enterprise Miner™ enables you to interactively grow and prune a tree, and save the results. However, if you interactively prune the tree, then some of the Results window Variable Importance values in the Output panel (View ► SAS Results ► Output) might be incorrect.

There are no errors or warnings to indicate a problem.

To work around the problem, follow these steps:

1. After pruning the tree, closing the Interactive Decision Tree window, and saving the results, change the Use Frozen Tree property to Yes.
2. Go to the first node in the flow. The first node is an Input Data node, a SAS Code node, or a File Import node. Change the Rerun property to Yes.
3. Run the Decision Tree node.
4. View the Decision Tree node results. In the Results window, select View ► SAS Results ► Output, and scroll down to the Variable Importance section. The Importance values for the pruned tree are displayed.

Note: The values in the Results window Variable Importance panel (View ► Model ► Variable Importance) are not incorrect. The problem occurs only with the values in the Output panel.
