Problem Note 59447: A pruned Decision Tree might produce incorrect Variable Importance values in the Output panel of the Results window
The Decision Tree node in SAS® Enterprise Miner™ enables you to interactively grow and prune a tree, and save the results. However, if you interactively prune the tree, then some of the Results window Variable Importance values in the Output panel (View ► SAS Results ► Output) might be incorrect.
There are no errors or warnings to indicate a problem.
To work around the problem, follow these steps:
- After pruning the tree, closing the Interactive Decision Tree window, and saving the results, change the Use Frozen Tree property to Yes.
- Go to the first node in the flow. The first node is an Input Data node, a SAS Code node, or a File Import node. Change the Rerun property to Yes.
- Run the Decision Tree node.
- View the Decision Tree node results. In the Results window, select View ► SAS Results ► Output, and scroll down to the Variable Importance section. The Importance values for the pruned tree are displayed.
Note: The values in the Results window Variable Importance panel (View ► Model ► Variable Importance) are not incorrect. The problem occurs only with the values in the Output panel.
