Usage Note 59083: A SAS® Data Integration Studio job using the SCD Type 2 transformation updates closed records
SAS Data Integration Studio jobs update the close date of previously closed records when the following conditions are true:
- The job uses the Slowly Changing Dimension (SCD) Type 2 transformation.
- The option Close records not in source table is selected.
This problem occurs if you do not use a current indicator in change tracking processing.
It is highly recommended that SAS Data Integration Studio jobs that use the SCD Type 2 transformation always incorporate a current indicator during change tracking processing. The indicator enhances processing performance by returning only the most current dimension table business keys to compare against incoming source data.
If the SCD Type 2 option Close records not in source table is selected and a current indicator is not used, then all dimension records (not just current records) are included in change tracking processing. In this scenario, the close date for previously closed records is incorrectly updated. When you use a current indicator, this update does not occur.
if you have further questions about how to close records explicitly, contact SAS Technical Support.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
SAS Data Integration Studio jobs that use the SCD Type 2 Loader transformation update the close date of previously closed records if the option "Close out records not in source table" is selected, and a current indicator is not used in change tracking processing.
