Problem Note 59070: Using zHPF with SASĀ® 9.4 TS1M3 results in a system abend S0C1
Support for System z High Performance FICON (zHPF) was made available for SAS direct access bound
libraries on disk in the third maintenance release for SAS 9.4 (TS1M3). When the SAS library spans volumes and there is a mixture of zHPF and non-zHPF devices, SAS might abend.
When you encounter this problem, a traceback like the following is written to the SAS log:
ERROR: SYSTEM ABEND 0C1 OCCURRED IN MODULE UNKNOWN FUNCTION VCAPCHANPGMGENCOMMAND AT OFFSET 317EE6.
ERROR: TRACEBACK WILL BE ATTEMPTED...

This problem is caused by SAS not properly handling the change between zHPF channel programs
and Channel Command Word (CCW) channel programs, which results in a system abend 0C1.
A circumvention for this issue is to set the following SAS system option in the CONFIG file, during start-up of SAS, or in an OPTIONS statement within the program:
DLDEBUG=20000x
