Problem Note 58322: Sales forecasts might not match between a promotion and the sales forecast export
In SAS® Promotion Optimization, sales forecasts might not match between a promotion and the sales forecast export. The differences occur when the products in a promotion are modeled with a Share model and the following conditions are true:
- The PS model specification is set to 0, which means to not include promotion support effects.
- The PS_xx model specifications are forced (PS_xx=4).
- The PS_TOTAL_LENGTH model specification has a value greater than 0.
The issue occurs because the value of the PS model specification is not honored and category demand elasticities are generated and consumed by optimization.
The workaround for this issue is to disable all the PS_xx model specifications (set PS_xx=0) for the model group.
