These errors occur because the SAS installation process from this specific SAS Software Depot for this specific SAS 9.4 revision detects that this product is currently installed, and it needs to be uninstalled before the SAS installation can proceed.
This issue is fixed in SAS® 9.4M4 (TS1M4) revision 17w04 and later. It is highly recommended that you install the latest SAS 9.4 revision available. See Fix below. However, if this SAS 9.4 revision is required for some reason, see Workaround below.
To work around this issue, do the following:
Important Note: These folders cannot be manually deleted. They must be removed during the uninstallation process from the Control Panel.
Alternative: If these products are not listed in the Programs list or the SAS install error persists, then contact your IT department for assistance removing the product from the Windows registry (see Warning below). If needed, contact SAS Technical Support .
Warning: Always back up your registry before you make any registry changes. For assistance, see Windows Help, Microsoft documentation, or the Microsoft Windows website. SAS is not responsible when you edit the Windows registry: changes in the Windows registry can render your system unusable and will require that you reinstall the operating system.
This issue is fixed in SAS 9.4M4 (TS1M4) revision 17w04 and later. You can request the newest SAS software by providing your SAS order number from your existing depot that caused the error (\SAS Software Depot\order_data\[your-folder-name]\) to SAS Technical Support or SAS Contracts.
Note: With the newer revision, the SAS logs might still provide messages about 1603 and/or 1605 errors to indicate whether this was already installed (1603) or needed repairing (1605). However, if this product is already installed and/or needs repairing, the SAS installation process continues.
