In order to use the SAS^® Drug Development Macro API, the Java API must also be installed and configured.

In these instructions, the Java API are installed at the following location: "C:\sddapi"

1. Download the corresponding version of the SAS^® Drug Development Java API client.
   • Refer to Usage Note 58433: SAS^® Drug Development API Macros - Get instance Java API and API Macro versions for information about how to get the corresponding Java API and Macro API client versions.
   • If using SAS^® Drug Development, refer to Installation Note 46609: SAS^® Drug Development 4 - Accessing Java API all versions client and macro downloads for links to download the API clients.
   • If using SAS^® Life Science Analytics Framework, refer to Installation Note 57862: SAS^® Life Science Analytics Framework - Accessing Java API all versions client and macro downloads for links to download the API clients.
2. Ensure that you have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Software Development Kit (SDK) Version installed that is compatible with your Java API Client version.
   • Refer to Usage Note 58436: SAS® Drug Development - Compatible Java versions for Java and Macro API for a list of compatible versions of Java for your Java API Client version.
   • If the current version of Java installed on your machine is unknown, run the command below in Command Prompt. The currently installed version of Java appears in the window.
     

     java -version

   • Download Java JRE/SDK from Oracle:
   • JRE/SDK SE 6
   • JRE/SDK SE 7
3. Create folder "C:\sddapi"
4. Unzip the Java API ZIP file download to "C:\sddapi\java"
   Java folder contains
   • README.txt
   • docs - directory containing Javadoc and documentation on the use of the API
   • samples - a directory with sample programs using the API
   • lib - a directory of JAR files the API needs to run
   • Setcp.bat - a command to set your classpath in a windows command line session
5. Open Command prompt and run the two commands below.

   cd C:\sddapi\java
   setcp.bat
