Problem Note 58332: SAS® VIEWTABLE might hang when you are opening Impala tables with DBCS data and using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Impala
The SAS VIEWTABLE might hang when displaying Impala tables using SAS/ACCESS Interface to Impala. The problem is likely to occur when the SAS session is using Shift-JIS (SJIS) encoding and BULKLOAD=YES is specified in the LIBNAME statement.
To circumvent the problem, do one of the following:
- Issue a separate LIBNAME statement without BULKLOAD=YES and view the tables using that separate library
- Use the UTF-8 encoding of SAS, which can handle most languages, in addition to SJIS encoding
