SAS® OnDemand for Academics has replaced SAS University Edition as the primary software choice for learners since SAS University Edition is no longer available. Individual learners, as well as university educators and students, can check out SAS OnDemand for Academics today for free access. When you installed and configured SAS University Edition, you should have configured your shared folder myfolders in order to store data on your local machine while you were using Studio. The following workaround is if you have not done this and you need to gain access to your data from SAS University Edition for use in SAS OnDemand for Academics: Studio.
If such a situation occurs, you can try to recover your data from the file structure of SAS University Edition in the virtual machine:
Microsoft Windows
Follow the steps below, depending on the virtual machine you used for access to SAS University Edition:
1. Download and install 7-Zip file archiver.
2. Navigate to the following location: C:\Users\your-user-ID \VirtualBox VMs and open the SAS University Edition file folder.
3. Right-click SAS_University_Edition.vmdk or SAS_University_Edition.vdi and select 7Zip ► Open Archive or Add to Archive.
4. Inside the archive, navigate to folders/myfolders and extract the files that you need.
5. After you have extracted everything you need into a folder, you can upload the files into SAS OnDemand for Academics: Studio by following the directions in this PDF: SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Uploading and Accessing Local Data.

2. Navigate to the following location and locate the folder containing the VMDK file: C:\Users\your-user-ID\My Documents\Virtual Machines.
3. Right-click SAS_University_Edition.vmdk and select 7Zip ► Open Archive or Add to Archive.
4. Inside the archive, navigate to folders/myfolders and extract the files that you need.
5. After you have extracted everything you need into a folder, you can upload the files into SAS OnDemand for Academics: Studio by following the directions in this PDF: SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Uploading and Accessing Local Data.

1. Download and install Keka MacOS File Archiver and make sure that the settings for 7Z look as shown below:
2. You should then be able to extract myfolders from the SAS_University_Edition.vmdk or SAS_University_Edition.vdi using Keka by navigating to the Finder Window ► Search This Mac for SAS_University_Edition.vmdk or SAS_University_Edition.vdi. Right-click the file and select Extract using Keka.
3. It may take a while, but eventually you should see a folder appear that is named SAS_University_Edition. When the folder appears, you can navigate within it to Folders ► myfolders ► sasuser.v94. This folder should have all of your data within it.
4. After you locate the folder with your data in it, you can upload the files to SAS OnDemand for Academics: Studio by following the directions in this PDF: SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Uploading and Accessing Local Data.
