Problem Note 58246: Your SAS® Enterprise Guide or SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office connection profile or application option settings disappear
You might notice that your SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office connection profile or application option settings disappear. For example, you might have to re-enter your SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office connection profile each time you log on.
There some things to keep in mind under these circumstances:
- Our SAS® software stores connection profile information and application user options inside the c:\Users\user-ID\AppData\Roaming\SAS location by default. And if the files are not accessible, the SAS software does not function as intended.
- SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office do not delete or redirect Windows user profiles. Therefore, there is another cause.
Causes
You might be experiencing a common issue related to the way that Windows user profiles are being configured. Here are some possible causes for the behavior:
- Roaming profiles have either not been configured or are configured incorrectly.
- User profile folder redirection is enabled to a remote location that is inaccessible by the SAS application.
- A third-party application is managing user profiles and has not been correctly configured with exclusions/inclusions. Examples include AppSense Environment Manager, Citrix UPM (User Profile Manager), and VMware View, to name a few.
Whatever the cause of your user profile issues, consult with your organization's IT department for assistance in resolving.
