Usage Note 57813: The FILENAME FTP connection to the remote FTP server stops responding

A connection that uses the FILENAME FTP engine stops responding when attempting to communicate with the remote FTP server in active mode and the FTP server supports only passive (PASV) mode.
By default, the FILENAME FTP engine attempts to communicate with the remote FTP server in active mode. Beginning in SAS® 9.3, you can specify the PASSIVE parameter on the FILENAME FTP statement in order to communicate with the FTP server in passive mode.
To determine the mode supported by the remote FTP server, issue the FTP command outside of SAS® and specify the host-dependent parameter for capturing the FTP debugging information (FTP -d). The debug output shows the PORT command when the FTP server uses active mode or the PASV command when the FTP server uses passive mode.
