Problem Note 57720: Using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to ODBC might result in a DataDirect license error
If you have both SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC and SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Microsoft SQL Server, you might receive a license error message when attempting to use an ODBC connection. The error message might look similar to the following:
You are not licensed to use this ODBC driver with the DataDirect ODBC
Driver Manager under the license you have purchased. If you wish
to purchase a license, then you may use the Driver Manager for a period
of 15 days, during which time you are required to obtain a license. You
can order a license by calling DataDirect Technologies at
800-876-3101 in North America and +44 (0) 1753-218 930 elsewhere.

If you have only SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC and are attempting to use a branded DataDirect driver supplied by a SAS product, then this message would be expected. You need to purchase your own driver and driver manager in this case.

If you have both SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC and SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL Server, you might be able to use the supplied DataDirect driver manager with your current driver. If you are getting this error message, you might need to apply the hot fix to update your DataDirect SQL Server driver and license.
Applying the hot fix AND removing any lines in your odbc.ini file that start with "QEWSD=" should prevent the license errors. This does not imply that the DataDirect driver manager functions properly with the third-party driver but it should prevent a license error.
