Problem Note 57267: Abbreviation macros might not work in the SAS® Enterprise Guide® enhanced editor
If you create an abbreviation macro with a name that starts with a nonstandard character such as a '~', '@', or '!', the macro is not resolved in the enhanced editor when the autocomplete feature is turned on. If the autocomplete feature is turned off, the abbreviation macro is shown in the autocomplete list. The abbreviation macro also works if the name starts with a standard character.
Note: Macros that use nonstandard characters can still be run from the macros menu.
As a workaround for abbreviation macros that use special characters, press CTRL+SPACEBAR and then autocomplete the abbreviation macro by using either the DOWN/UP arrow keys or a mouse click.
