Usage Note 57679: A "Name not in HOSTS file or names Database" error occurs when you are using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Teradata
When issuing a LIBNAME statement to connect to Teradata, you might see the following error:
Name not in HOSTS file or names database
The problem occurs even when the machine name is in the HOSTS file for the operating system. The problem occurs when there is a firewall between the machine running SAS® and the Teradata machine and only one port is open.
To resolve the problem, add the port after the server name in the SERVER= parameter of the LIBNAME
statement. The syntax is shown below, using port 1521:
libname test teradata server='my-server:1521' user=my-user password=my-password

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
When attempting to connect to Teradata, you might receive a "Names not in HOSTS file" error. The problem occurs when there is a firewall between SAS and Teradata and there is only one port open. To resolve the problem, add the port number to the server specified in the server=parameter.
