The phrase "decision tree" has different definitions depending on your field of research. In some fields, the phrase refers to a type of decision analysis. In other fields, the phrase refers to classification or regression trees. Here are choices that are available in SAS software, depending on your definition.

• Classification and regression trees

  • In SAS^® Enterprise Miner™, you can use the Decision Tree node, or the HP Tree node.

  • Beginning in SAS/STAT^® software 14.1 (SAS 9.4 (TS1M3)), you can use PROC HPSPLIT. PROC HPSPLIT runs in either single-machine mode or distributed mode. Distributed mode requires SAS^® High-Performance Statistics. Single-machine mode does not require any additional license beyond SAS/STAT software.
