Usage Note 57091: File transfers using the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)
The FTP server used by customers of SAS® Intelligent Advertising for Publishers for file transfers has been replaced by Amazon's S3 storage service.
To obtain the credentials required to access your S3 account, including the customer-specific access URL, contact SAS Technical Support. The Access Key ID and Secret Access Key are required credentials. Also, SAS Technical Support must provide the region name value.
Manual File Transfers
Once credentials have been obtained from SAS Technical Support, you can establish a secure connection to S3 storage using clients such as Cloudberry or Cyberduck.
Automating File Transfers Using the AWS CLI
The process of uploading or downloading data to Amazon S3 can be automated (for example, uploading user registration data files or downloading a custom report data file). The Amazon Automated Web Services (AWS) command-line interface (CLI) makes API calls to services over HTTPS. Outbound connections on TCP port 443 must be enabled in order to perform calls. The following links provide detailed information about automating the process using the AWS CLI client, which can be downloaded free of charge.
Configuring the AWS CLI client typically looks like this:
$ aws configure
AWS Access Key ID [None]: AKIAIOSFODNN7EXAMPLE
AWS Secret Access Key [None]: wJalrXUtnFEMI/K7MDENG/bPxRfiCYEXAMPLEKEY
Default region name [None]: us-west-2
Default output format [None]: <ENTER> |
Note that, by default, the AWS CLI uses SSL when communicating with AWS services. For each SSL connection, the AWS CLI verifies SSL certificates. This option overrides the default behavior of verifying SSL certificates.
