Problem Note 56478: An error occurs when you use the CAST=YES LIBNAME option with an ORDER BY clause or a SELECT DISTINCT clause in SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Teradata
The CAST=YES LIBNAME option for SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata causes an error when you use data of type BIGINT or DECIMAL in either a SELECT DISTINCT or an ORDER BY clause.
For example, if you use the following code:
libname tera_lib teradata server=server_name user=user-id PASSWORD=password cast=yes;
proc sql;
select * from tera_lib.decimal_table order by var2 ;
This error might occur:
ERROR: Teradata row not delivered (trget):
Overflow occurred computing an expression involving decimal_table.var2.
Workarounds
To work around this issue, do one of the following:
- Omit the ORDER BY clause.
- Use explicit SQL pass through.
- Create a Teradata view that contains an ORDER BY clause.
