Beginning in the first maintenance release of SAS^® 9.4 (TS1M1), background colors that are specified in a format might not be applied to column headings in PROC REPORT output. Background colors might also be applied incorrectly to headings that span multiple columns.

You might encounter two problems with PROC REPORT. First, background colors that are specified in a format are not applied to column headings. Second, background colors might be applied incorrectly to headings that span multiple columns. The code for both of these problems is demonstrated below.
