Installation Note 56241: SAS® Customer Intelligence Studio fails to configure properly when you install it on a machine separate from the SAS® Web Infrastructure Platform
SAS Customer Intelligence Studio might fail to configure when the middle tier is on a machine that is separate from where Web Infrastructure Platform is installed. As a result, a SAS® Deployment Wizard Configuration failure dialog box might display the following error:
ERROR importing foundation services from file: ${status.error.log.location] C:\SAS\Config\Logs\Configure\FoundationServices.log
Also, the cistrudio_importServices_datetime.log file (found in the same directory as FoundationServices.log) might contain the following message after the Build Failed message:
C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASCustomerIntelligenceStudio\6.4\config\cicstudio_config.xml:505: The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDeploymentManager\9.4\products\cfgwizard__94350__prt__xx__sp0__1\Utilities\loadMetadata.xml:2652: Error importing foundation services from file: Error importing foundation services from file: ${status.error.log.location} C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\Logs\Configure\FoundationServices.log

The failure occurs when the SAS Deployment Wizard attempts to configure SAS Customer Intelligence Studio on a separate SAS® Enterprise BI Server middle tier, apart from where the Web Infrastructure Platform is configured.
To correct this issue, do the following:
- Do not exit from SAS Deployment Wizard.
- Using the SAS installer ID, create the following directory on the middle-tier machine where SAS Customer Intelligence Studio is being configured:
SAS-configuration-directory\LevN\Web\Common\LocalServices
- Copy all files from the SAS-configuration-directory\LevN\Web\Common\LocalServices directory on the middle-tier machine where Web Infrastructure Platform is configured to the directory that you created in step 2.
- Click the Retry button in SAS Deployment Wizard.
This problem is fixed in SAS® Customer Intelligence 6.5.
