In SAS® Drug Development 4.5.1, search and Replace All for matched parentheses fail with an error.

To see this behavior:

1. Open the Workspace tab
2. Create a program that includes several strings that include both open and closed parentheses
3. Control-F to Find
4. Select Replace tab
5. Enter a string that is in the entered strings that includes both open and closed parentheses

Expected behavior, the string is replaced. Actual behavior, the instance freezes, and returns with an error dialog box.

As a workaround:

1. Replace the open parenthesis ( with a another character not found in the string with Replace All
2. Replace the close parenthesis ) with a another character not found in the string with Replace All
3. Replace string that includes the other character used in step one and two then Replace All.
