When you start SAS® Visual Analytics Explorer 7.3 or a later SAS® Visual Analytics version, this error might occur:
You have attempted to access an application that is not licensed for use. Please contact your system administrator.
In addition, if you open SAS® Visual Analytics Hub and add a shortcut, SAS Visual Analytics Explorer and other components are not listed.
Also, the SASVisualAnalyticsHub7.3.log or log for later version contains an error similar to this message:
[HUB_MT] WARN [VAThreadPool 1] 2015-10-20 20:20:20,145 [unknown:unknown]
com.sas.apps.bicentral.model.otherapplication.ApplicationMgr - software component (Visual Analytics Explorer 7.3)
is not licensed, removing it from available applications.
Starting in SAS® Visual Analytics 7.3, SAS Visual Analytics Explorer checks the setinit in metadata for this licensed product, which is PRODNUM985.
If this product is installed but now expired, or if this product is missing from the installation and missing from the SID file in metadata, then the above error occurs.
To remedy the issue, locate the new SAS installation data file (SID file) for your SAS Visual Analytics installation that contains the licensed product:
*PRODNUM985 = SAGEMID SAS Visual Analytics Explorer;
Then, using the new SID file containing this product, perform steps D and E below. (These steps are from SAS® 9.4 Software License Renewal Instructions for Microsoft Windows and Windows for x64 Planned Deployment.)
D. Update the SID File in Metadata for Applicable SAS Solutions.
E. Restart SAS Servers and SAS Spawners.
Note: If you have multiple Windows Services for WebAppServer, such as SASServer1_1 - WebAppServer, SASServer12_1 - WebAppServer, SASServer2_1 - WebAppServer, restart all these services in the correct order.
After step E, allow time for all SAS Visual Analytics processes to become available. This could take approximately 20–40 minutes or longer after rebooting or restarting the SAS services.
How to Check SID Files in Metadata
You might want to check the current SID files in metadata or verify that the SID files in metadata have been updated. To do so, see SAS Note 57183, "The SID files in metadata can be viewed in SAS® Management Console starting with SAS® 9.4 (TS1M2)."
