Problem Note 56622: Web-log data might be truncated in SAS® IT Resource Management
SAS IT Resource Management can examine several Common Log Format (CLF) web-log file types that are produced by Microsoft and Apache web servers. The SAS IT Resource Management staging transformation can determine the file type automatically. In addition, the staging transformation can extract the column names that make up each file and store them into an internal 200-byte column. This column is used subsequently to create a list of variables in a SAS® INPUT statement, which is used to stage the data into SAS IT Resource Management.
In some situations, it is possible for the web-log file to consist of a large number of raw data columns. In this scenario, and without any warning in the SAS log, the number of characters that make up the column names might exceed the 200-byte column limit. As a result, some column names might not be stored, or a column is misnamed because of truncation.
To circumvent this problem, you can use the Logging Fields dialog box in the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to change the web-server configuration by shortening the number of columns that make up the raw file. To do that, exclude any non-default columns that are not needed for reporting purposes.
