Usage Note 56083: An "Access is denied" error might occur when you run hq-agent.bat from a Windows command prompt
When you use the hq-agent.bat to manually start, stop, or restart the SAS® Environment Manager Agent for Windows, an error like the following might occur:
C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\Web\SASEnvironmentManager\agent-5.8.0-EE\bin>hq-agent.bat stop
wrapper | Unable to stop the SAS [config-Lev1] SAS Environment Manager Agent service - Access is denied. (0x5)
wrapper | Performing this action requires that you run as an elevated process.
The issue occurs if you are not running the command prompt as administrator. Elevated or administrative privileges are required to run hq-agent.bat from a Windows command prompt.
To resolve the problem, run the command prompt using elevated privileges. Follow the instructions for your Windows operating system shown here:
On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
- From the Start screen, begin typing command prompt. The command prompt icon then appears.
- Right-click the command prompt icon and select Run as Administrator.
On Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008
- Select Start ► All Programs ► Accessories.
- Right-click the Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator.
