Usage Note 55474: Non-distributed SAS® Visual Analytics deployments might stop responding when starting or stopping a SAS® LASR™ Analytic Server or running a query
If you have 10 or more SAS® LASR™ Analytic Servers running in a non-distributed SAS Visual Analytics deployment, the software might stop responding when you attempt to perform one or more of these actions:
- Start a SAS LASR Analytic Server.
- Stop a SAS LASR Analytic Server.
- Preview a data query in SAS® Visual Data Builder.
- Execute a data query in SAS Visual Data Builder.
By default, non-distributed SAS Visual Analytics deployments are limited to running 10 SAS® Workspace Server sessions simultaneously. If these sessions are all in use, then any other action in SAS Visual Analytics that requires a workspace server session fails. For example, if all 10 SAS LASR Analytic Servers are in use and you attempt to start another SAS LASR Analytic Server or run a query in SAS Visual Data Builder, then the software suspends the action until it can create a new workspace server session. As a result, the software seems to hang.
To increase this session limit, follow these steps:
- Log on to SAS® Management Console as an administrative user such as sasadm@saspw.
- On the Plug-ins tab, expand Application Management ► Configuration Manager ► SAS Application Infrastructure ► Web Infra Platform Services 9.4 ► JobExecutionService.
- Right-click JobExecutionService and select Properties.
- Click the Settings tab.
- In the SASApp Execution Queue Properties section, click the Workspace Server Properties tab.
- Set the Maximum Threads option to a value higher than 10. You can set this as high as you'd like.
- Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog box.
- Restart the SAS® Web Application Server where the SAS® Web Infrastructure Platform is deployed. Typically, that is
SASServer1_1
.
