Attribute values might be missing in data sets that are created when you use the XMLV2 LIBNAME engine to read XML files into SAS. This is most likely to occur when attributes in the XML file are preceded with the reserved namespace xml:. The attribute and value appear in the Table view of the SAS^® XML Mapper, but do not appear after generating a data set using the XMLV2 LIBNAME engine.

A common use for the reserved namespace of xml: is to define the language attribute.

To circumvent the problem, download the SAS^® 9.2 version of the SAS XML Mapper and use this to generate the XMLMap file in addition to using the XML engine in the LIBNAME statement.
