Problem Note 55831: SAS® Real-Time Decision Manager incorrectly assumes that dates returned from queries to Oracle are in the GMT time zone

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

Data processes in SAS Real-Time Decision Manager enable you to create database queries for your campaigns. When these queries retrieve a date time value from Oracle, the retrieved value is interpreted as if the date time is in the UTC (GMT) time zone. However, most Oracle databases are configured to store date time values in a time zone other than UTC. This combination can cause SAS Real-Time Decision Manager to silently produce campaign results that are different from the expected results.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

This hot fix requires that you complete some manual steps in order to use it. After you apply the hot fix, add the following properties to SAS® Management Console Configuration Manager:

sasds.designserver.default.timezoneid
sasds.engine.default.timezoneid

These properties control the timezone that SAS Real-Time Decision Manager uses for datetime values that are read from or inserted into your database. The properties affect actions by data process nodes. The timezone properties do not affect SQL that is executed from DS2 models, arbitration, or other custom code outside of a data process node.

To add the variable that controls the campaign design environment, complete these steps:

  1. Open the SAS Management Console Application Management plug-in.
  2. Navigate to Configuration Manager ► SAS Application Infrastructure ► Decision Services Design Mid-Tier your-version. Right-click and select Properties.
  3. Click Advanced and then click Add. Enter the new property name: sasds.designserver.default.timezoneid
  4. For the value of the new property, enter the timezone that your database uses for its datetime values. The default value for SAS Real-Time Decision Manager is UTC. However, you can enter any valid Java timezone value such as Europe/Berlin.

To add the variable that controls the campaign execution environment, complete similar steps for the Engine Server:

  1. Open the SAS Management Console Application Management plug-in.
  2. Navigate to Configuration Manager ► SAS Application Infrastructure ► Decision Services Engine Server your-version. Right-click and select Properties.
  3. Click Advanced and then click Add. Enter the new property name: sasds.engine.default.timezoneid
  4. For the value of the new property, enter the timezone that your database uses for its datetime values.

After you complete the steps above, restart all instances of SASServer7.
