Usage Note 55506: FILENAME statement using FTP Access Method fails if Service Name FTP not defined

If your program code includes a FILENAME statement with the FTP access method and the TCP/IP services file does not define FTP as the service name, the job fails and an error similar to the following is written to the SAS log file:
ERROR: Open failed for file fileref
ERROR: The specified address is not available.
ERROR: The specified address is not available.
Setting the DEBUG option does not cause additional diagnostic messages to be written.
If a SYSTCPT DD is allocated to the session, the following can be seen under the GetServByName section:

By default, SAS® uses the Service Name FTP to connect.
To circumvent the problem, specify the PORT= option on the FILENAME statement. Following is an example of the syntax:
FILENAME fileref FTP 'file.to.get.put'
