Problem Note 54980: The error "ODS Graphics Designer failed to connect to its server" might be issued when you try to invoke the SAS® ODS Graphics Designer
The SAS ODS Graphics Designer might fail to open in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 7.1. When you try to invoke the SAS ODS Graphics Designer, a Server Configuration window might pop up without a port number specified in the PORT field. If you click OK, the following Server Connection Error is displayed:
ODS Graphics Designer failed to connect to its server. This might be caused by internal timing issues.
Retrying might be successful.
The following error might be issued in the SAS® log if you try to invoke the SAS ODS Graphics Designer by submitting the %SGDESIGN() statement in the Program window within SAS Enterprise Guide 7.1:
ERROR: Java class generated an exception.
This problem is most likely to occur when you attempt to invoke the standalone version of SAS ODS Graphics Designer with SAS Enterprise Guide 7.1 running on a locally assigned server or with no profile selected.
