Problem Note 54865: The SAS® Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool might not remove temporary SAS® Content Server backup files from the drop-zone directory

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

Expected Behavior

Starting with the second maintenance release of SAS® 9.4, when a central vault is configured for the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool, backup files for each backup source are deleted from the local vault after they have been successfully copied to the central vault. As part of this process, SAS Content Server backup files are now temporarily placed in the drop-zone directory before they are copied to the central vault. Once the files are copied to the central vault, they should then be deleted from the drop zone.

Problem

With SAS 9.4 M2 software, the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool fails to remove temporary copies of SAS Content Server backup files from the drop-zone directory when a central vault is configured. This is the default location for the drop zone: SAS-configuration-directory/Levn/Backup/dropzone.

In certain cases, as the directory grows over time, these files can cause disk space to fill up.

Cause of the Problem

This problem occurs when the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool fails to delete the temporary SAS Content Server backup files from the drop-zone directory after the files have been successfully copied to the central vault.
